Friends of Crystal Memorial Gardens Cemetery is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, protecting, and interpreting Historic Crystal Memorial Gardens Cemetery, one of Citrus County's most significant African American heritage sites.
Established in 1884, the cemetery is the final resting place of generations of veterans, pioneers, community leaders, and families whose lives helped shape our region. Through preservation, historical research, community engagement, and educational initiatives, we work to ensure their stories endure.
Our efforts include cemetery restoration, grave identification, veteran recognition, historic documentation, archaeological investigations, and advocacy for the preservation of African American burial grounds. Working alongside local, state, and national partners, we are committed to safeguarding this sacred place for future generations.
