OUR MISSION

To preserve, beautify, and advocate for the historic Crystal Memorial Gardens Cemetery, located in Crystal River, Florida.  We also work to restore dignity and honor to those interred there who were forgotten and ensure a peaceful resting place that memorializes the departed and honors their families in our community for generations to come.

HISTORY

The Friends of Crystal Memorial Gardens Cemetery held its first meeting on April 21, 2023. In addition to continuing to organize community clean up workdays, we have also developed a website, completed a Strategic Plan, and continue outreach in our community to educate and form partnerships.  

We launched our inaugural Dr. Martin Luther King Leadership Gala in January 2024 as our first community fundraiser and raised nearly $10,000.  With those funds, we secured a certified survey of the cemetery grounds in May, 2024; the first one ever for the historic cemetery.

We are a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization to solicit funding from charitable foundations and community groups and we are registered with the State of Florida.

Members of the Friends of Crystal Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Inc include Citrus County residents as well as people living in other parts of the U.S. and all over the the world.  Many of these have family and friends buried in Crystal Memorial Gardens and want to ensure that the final resting place for their loved ones is preserved and maintained.  Others are interested in the history and genealogy of Crystal Memorial Gardens in Crystal River, Florida and see the cemeteries as repositories of Citrus County’s past.  We welcome anyone who has an interest in the perpetuation and conservation of our historic Crystal Memorial Garden Cemetery.
