With over 30 years of executive leadership experience, Ms. McCray brings a strategic, compliance-driven approach to advancing preservation initiatives, including archaeological studies, flood mitigation planning, and long-term restoration efforts. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Statistics from the University of Florida and began her career as a statistician in Dallas, contributing to early Sarbanes-Oxley implementation within the banking sector.
Through thoughtful leadership and strong partnerships, Ms. McCray is dedicated to preserving history with integrity, ensuring that Crystal Memorial Gardens remains a place of dignity, remembrance, and lasting legacy.
Dr. Danita Smith serves as Vice President of Friends of Crystal Memorial Gardens Cemetery, where she supports the organization’s mission to preserve, protect, and honor one of Citrus County’s most treasured historic sites. With a strong foundation in leadership, education, and community engagement, Dr. Smith brings both insight and integrity to the organization’s preservation efforts.
In her role, Dr. Smith works alongside executive leadership and project partners to support strategic initiatives, community outreach, and long-term preservation planning. Dr. Danita Smith, a fifth-generation Citrus County native and proud descendant of the Scriven family. With a doctorate in Educational Leadership, is committed to empowering students, strengthening educational pathways, and building brighter futures.
Dr. Smith currently serves as Superintendent of Schools for MYcroSchool, Inc., where she leads with vision, experience, and a heart for student success. Her work reflects a deep dedication to education, community advancement, and honoring the legacy of those who came before her.
Vicki Sawyer Lindo serves as Treasurer of Friends of Crystal Memorial Gardens Cemetery, where she provides financial stewardship in support of the organization’s mission to preserve and protect one of Citrus County’s most historic ancestral sites. With a strong commitment to accuracy, accountability, and responsible oversight, she ensures that all financial operations align with the organization’s standards of integrity and transparency.
Ms. Lindo brings a wealth of professional experience in financial management and organizational support, contributing to the effective administration of grant-funded initiatives and preservation projects. Her attention to detail and disciplined approach play a critical role in maintaining compliance with state requirements and supporting the organization’s long-term sustainability.

Josh McCray serves as Secretary of Friends of Crystal Memorial Gardens Cemetery, where he supports the organization’s mission to preserve and protect one of Citrus County’s most significant historic and ancestral sites. In this role, he is responsible for maintaining official records, ensuring accurate documentation, and supporting organizational compliance and governance.
With a strong commitment to structure, accountability, and operational efficiency, Mr. McCray plays a key role in coordinating communications and preserving the integrity of the organization’s administrative processes. His attention to detail ensures that all proceedings, records, and reporting align with established standards and regulatory expectations.

With over twenty years in healthcare, Josh brings expertise, compassion, and strategic insight to every role. He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Technology Management from St. Petersburg College (2008) and remains dedicated to advancing positive, lasting change in the community.
Gregory R. Sawyer brings a lifetime of distinguished leadership, strategic planning, and public service to the Friends of Crystal Memorial Gardens Cemetery Board of Directors.
A native of Citrus County, Mr. Sawyer's roots run deep in the community. He attended Booker T. Washington High School, George Washington Carver Elementary School, Crystal River Middle School, and became Crystal River High School's first Black Senior Class President before graduating as Class Salutatorian in 1973.
Mr. Sawyer is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, and later received a Master of Science in Computer Science from the Naval Postgraduate School. During his distinguished 20-year naval career, he served as a Naval Flight Officer and highly decorated combat aviator, logging more than 2,200 flight hours and over 500 aircraft carrier landings before retiring with the rank of Commander.
Following his military service, Mr. Sawyer built an accomplished career in federal contracting, program management, aviation operations, and economic development. He is Vice President and Co-Founder of CSJ Partners, LLC, providing expertise in contract negotiations, economic development, and small business support. He also serves as Tactical Aviation Lead Subject Matter Expert for Valiant Integrated Services.
Throughout his career, Mr. Sawyer has remained deeply committed to education, mentorship, and community service. He is a founder of the Black Aviators Network, has held leadership positions with numerous civic organizations, and continues to champion STEM education and youth development initiatives.
As a Director of the Friends of Crystal Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Mr. Sawyer contributes strategic leadership, organizational development expertise, and a lifelong commitment to preserving African American history and honoring the legacy of the Crystal River community. His personal connection to Citrus County and passion for historical preservation make him an invaluable member of the Board as the organization advances its mission to preserve, protect, and interpret one of Florida's most significant historic African American cemeteries.
